Directions/Winds: There are many interpretations of the 4-7 Directions and Elements, via varied Spiritual teachings. Elements, Totems, and corresponding symbols can vary for each direction. And so, there are many ways to use your arrows! I invite you to explore, research, and try different things to see what feels best for you and your beliefs and rituals. There is no one 'right' way.
Here is one way that combines Southwest Native Sacred Wheel teachings with Eastern beliefs:
The 5 Elements/Directions:
-North: Air. Mind and its mastery. Wisdom. Elders. Buffalo. Sweetgrass.
-East: Fire. Spirit. Spring. Illumination. Vision. Eagle. Tobacco.
-South: Earth. Body. Summer. Yellow. Spirit. Healer. Relations/ community. Cedar/copal.
-West: Water. Feelings. Healing. Introspection-Vision. Autumn. Dream lodge. Death/Rebirth. Blue (or black). Black Bear.
-Center: Space/ Ether. Wood. Creator/Great Spirit. Crystal. Palo
Santo.
In Japanese Buddhism: Kū/sora, or the 5th element is most often translated as "Void", but also can mean "sky" or "Heaven", and represents those things beyond our everyday experience, particularly those things composed of pure energy. Bodily, kū represents spirit, thought, and creative energy. It represents our ability to think and to communicate, as well as our creativity. It can also be associated with power, creativity, spontaneity, and inventiveness. (Wikipedia). For these reasons I like to put a clear crystal, Angelite, or selenite tower in the center of a sacred wheel; reflections of Divine play.

An important symbol to tribes, it is "a symbol for prayer...the shape of thought traveling to the divine" (Gerald Hausman). Traditionally interpreted on rock walls as resources, success in the hunt; focus, alertness. The arrowhead signifies our connection to the life around us; how others sustain us, and also a warrior's strength and will. For many, arrows signify the highest success achievable in matters of Spirit.

* DAILY Ritual* & SMUDGING with 5 Directions Arrows & Herbs**
** Use your Crystal Stone Arrows as you would your Sages/Herbs~ as Helpers on the Path. After attuning them to your energies (see below), they become friends from the earth and natural Helpers on your path: place arrows and stones throughout your home for balance and blessings; carry in your smudge bowl, use in meditation, space gridding, bodywork; place on your alter, or carry in your medicine pouch.
* SMUDGING: Stones and Crystals work together to amplify your intentions in Smudging Ceremony. Simply place arrows in your Smudge shell or bowl. Or place in rooms to be Smudged in the 4 Cardinal Directions, with one (representing Space) in your bowl.
*Make it Yours: ATTUNE YOUR Stones ** When you get your crystal/stone helper: rinse, or buff with a soft cloth. Many stones fade in sunlight, so limiting full sun is recommended. Attune or Program your crystal to your energy and needs by handling and speaking to them~ as the good friends they are- ready to join you for your grounding, meditation, dreamwork, and cleansing rituals. Cleanse with lunar, soil/soil, voice, or water energies periodically to cleanse, clear, and recharge your crystal helpers.
***SMUDGE WISE when burning your herb bundles*****
Do not leave a burning smudge wand or charcoal unattended. Take extra care around children and pets. When finished burning, run the tip under running water to make sure the ember inside is fully extinguished. Hang it to dry for your next use.
