QUALITIES **Black Obsidian**
~ Said to Quickly absorb negative energies from our spaces~ Obsidian will add a zing of power to your ceremony. (See Smudging details below).
~ Obsidian: Though I find Obsidian a strong stone, some find it useful to soothe and calm a worried mind and an ungrounded spirit; can ground restless vibrations.
~ Obsidian is a Protection stone, the "Warrior's Stone" used to help repel negativity from the environment, and keep it from entering one's space and energy field. In people, it is used to draw out negativity and shadow (into itself) for final release. Because of this, your arrow should be cleansed often under running cool water. It should also be put away in your medicine cabinet- if you are not ready for shadow work or what may come to the surface.
~Black Obsidian is used as a creativity stone, to help establish focus, increase self-discipline, deep cleanse the aura, and break "writers' block. Keep in your creative space to help manifest your creative goals.
**What is Smudging? ** Originally a Native Indian practice, of burning sacred sages and herbs in prayer, offering, and creating sacred space. Practiced by tribes across North, Central, and South Americas, it is the practice of offering and blessing with the energy of Plant Spirits- to enrich our own ritual and ceremony. Smudging is a common practice now to 'cleanse', or bless a new home to clear out old and stagnant energies, and to send travelers on with higher blessings.
***********************
Obsidian is formed when volcanic lava comes into contact with water; this forces it to cool so quickly that it doesn’t have time to crystallize, resulting in a stone with a shiny, glassy texture.
**The Arrowhead** Is a symbol of strength, resourcefulness, and independence.
An ancient symbol, reminding us of ancient cultures across the Americas, it is a sacred symbol to tribes; said to be "a symbol for prayer...the shape of thought traveling to the divine" (Gerald Hausman). Traditionally interpreted on rock walls as resources, success in the hunt; alertness. In current belief, the arrowhead signifies resourcefulness, a warrior's strength, dependence on others for success, and the highest spiritual achievement.
