Uses of White Sage**
For thousands of years First Peoples on all continents have used sage for practical and spiritual use. Europeans named the genus "Salvia" for the plant's healing abilities- which they learned from Native American Peoples.
**White sage is excellent for balancing, cleansing, and blessing oneself, friends, tools, and living/working spaces. It stays lit, and has an earthy, sweetness. It is earthier and muskier than our other ceremonial sages- Desert Sage, Silver Prairie, or Shasta Blue Sage, which all have a lighter, more delicate scent. All sages have the same clearing/cleansing affects and are offered in ceremony for cleansing, setting intentions, and purifying.
**"What is SMUDGING?** A more common name today is "Saging", and means the use of special plants, considered sacred, for ceremony or ritual. Saging is the practice of burning sacred sage/herbs for Blessing, offering, and creating Sacred Space; using smoke from Sacred Plants/herbs- to cleanse oneself, space, and energy in gratitude and prayer; practiced by by peoples across North, Central, and South America for centuries.
