This hand carved, floral motif soapstone bowl/censor burns cone incense.
Can also hold smaller charcoals nicely (33mm like the ones in our charcoal kit. If burning
charcoal, this burner requires sand be laid at the bottom under charcoals (NOT included in this listing).
Beautiful carved design (looks onyx-like): colors of stone naturally will vary. I have only the brown- mixed colors; a beautiful blend of colors- tan, some green, mostly light and dark browns. Weighs almost a .lb with lid. Remove the lid, and carry with you while smudging.
SOAPSTONE: has a long, creatively rich history among all peoples of the globe. Physically, it is known as steatite, or soaprock, and is a talc-schist; a type of metamorphic rock. It is largely made of the mineral talc and is rich in magnesium. It is byproduct of tension and upheaval: where tectonic plates are subducted, and heat and pressure, produced by dynamothermal metamorphism and metasomatism, and the influx of fluids--but without melting. It has been a medium for carving statues, bowls and stoves- by all peoples for thousands of years from India, Iran, Greece, Brazil, and the Americas.
SHIPPING: Because of fragility and weight- this item ships Priority in the US.
